Uterine Fibroid Embolisation
What is uterine fibroid embolisation (UFE)?
Uterine fibroids are noncancerous tumours that develop from the muscle tissue of the uterus. Uterine fibroid embolisation (UFE) is a straight-forward, unintrusive procedure to shrink uterine fibroids.
To do this, UFE shrinks fibroids by blocking their blood supply. Once the blood supply has been stopped, the fibroids shrink. The symptoms ease or go away over time. This approach can be less invasive than alternate treatments, and result in a quicker recovery time.
